Whats happening to them you ask?
They are being killed by poachers for their fur and skin but worst, for fun. They also die from lack of habitat and too much pollution.
Its not just bad for them if they go extinct, if they go extinct the whole entire food chain could collapse which leads to even more species becoming extinct for example - from lack of habitat for the Red Panda, other animals such as the Giant Panda itself could become extinct along with other forest animals so stop the extinction while you can, as the old famous saying goes - Prevention is always better than cure. For example, in my opinion, I believe that instead of spending money in cloning for bringing back the extinct, believe that the money should be spent on trying to stop the present species from extinction.
